There’s nothing quite like a dry wilderness sunset. All the clouds form into cotton candy and the whole horizon turns China red. Leaving Joshua felt nostalgic and bittersweet. There’s a familiarity with the land that made me crank old country blues and want to pitch a tent with my dad. I wish there were more days I could throw my hair in a messy bun, kick my feet up on the dash, and spit sunflower seeds.  We found the best views, laughed until we cried, and found ourselves at the top of some mountains. The best view means climbing.   I've always believed the old sayings that Virginia is for lovers and how when you leave San Francisco you also leave your heart,  until I spent the whole day running wild in Joshua Tree. There I found the lovers, and there I left my heart.
